Chicago Indoor Garden
Hey everyone, Welcome to the Midwestern Plate Podcast. I’m Laura Kinser. Here, we focus on the community of small sustainable farmers in the midwestern united states and share their stories with you.
Today, we will be talking with Colleen from Chicago Indoor Garden. Chicago Indoor Garden is a certified organic and Non-GMO Project verified and have been growing freshly sprouted beans, greens, and grasses in the heart of Chicago since 1987. They are a small family-run farm, with only 7 employees, almost half of which are family members. They sell their products to all midwest whole food locations, as well as local restaurants, juice bars, and grocers.
You can find their website at chicagoindoorgarden.com and follow them on Instagram @chicagoindoorgarden.
Colleen shares with us how she switched careers from being a horse trainer to working with her family at the indoor garden. Also how the business has grown, some of the challenges and opportunities with COVID and navigating that with a new baby, and also the many delicious health benefits of eating fresh sprouts.
